Most countries are putting Father’s under the limelight today, an attempt to acknowledge & appreciate the institution of Fatherhood.

Father’s Day is a special day dedicated to honoring fathers, father figures, and paternal bonds. It is usually celebrated on the third Sunday of June every year, and this year, it falls on June 18th. Although it is not a public holiday, it is widely celebrated in many countries around the world, including the United States, Canada, and several European countries such as the UK, Germany, France as well as in most African States and Asia like in India where it is usually the 3rd Sunday in the month of June.

Fatherhood is the role of being a father and providing support, guidance, and love to a child. The institution of fatherhood refers to the societal expectations, values, and norms associated with fatherhood. It is important because fathers play a critical role in shaping a child’s development and overall well-being. We should appreciate it by recognizing and celebrating the contributions of fathers, promoting positive father-child relationships, and advocating for policies that support fathers and their families.

Kudos to men who take on the role of fatherhood either biologically or non-biological.

Father’s Day was first introduced in the United States in 1910 to celebrate the contributions fathers make to families and the community. However, it was not until the 1970s that it became a recognized holiday in most countries. While the holiday is generally viewed as a time of celebration and appreciation, there are some controversies surrounding it, including the portrayal of fathers as distant and uninvolved caretakers.

Despite this, Father’s Day has many positive effects on society and the environment. It encourages people to spend time with their fathers or father figures, strengthens the bond between fathers and their children, and promotes the importance of family values. Additionally, it can lead to an increase in sales for businesses, particularly those selling gifts and greeting cards. Go be a good & responsible Father. Invest in your children.

Happy Father’s Day .
